Bernie Mac Dies at 50

Sad news. Comedian Bernie Mac has died Saturday, August 9, from complications due to pneumonia, which he had been hospitalized for earlier.

This comes as a total shock. I heard that he had been hospitalized but I thought nothing of it, figured he would get better and be back to his funny self before long. Very unfortunately that is not the case.

I can’t write a long rambling review of Bernie Mac’s life in show business. All I can do is say that I enjoyed his comedy, watched his show sometimes and enjoyed his movies, which include the Ocean series of films co-starring George Clooney, Transformers, Charlie’s Angels, Head of State, and a host of other titles going back to 1992.

Bernie Mac was a funny guy, a character. When asked about Mac’s death Clooney commented, “The world just got a little less funny.” How true.

Mac had sarcoidosis, an immune system disorder which can cause scarring of the lungs in severe cases. Mac’s condition had gone into remission in 2005, and it has not been disclosed whether this condition played any part in his death, which was deemed of natural causes.
