Well, here it is the 6th day of the 6th month of the 6th year in the new millennium, not really the number of the beast but close enough for some to make a big to-do of it. I will admit there is one bad thing about today, this is the first day of the rest of our lives without Everwood. Goodbye to Andy, Ephram, Amy, Bright, and all the other great characters. Everwood plucked the heartstrings of many during it's four years on the WB. Great writing, great performances and endearing characters made Everwood one of the best, although short lived, television shows of the twenty first century. My wife and I laughed and cried as we watched the characters grow and live, and the stories unfold. We're sad to see it go, but glad to see so many happy endings. Ephram and Amy, Bright and Hannah, Andy and Nina will all live happily ever after in our minds. Unfortunately we had to lose Irv, now there was a charming character. Too bad we don't have more Irvs in the world. So long Everwood, you will be missed. But maybe not for long. Maybe fan petitions will be successful in getting Everwood picked up by the CW, the new network created by a merger of Warner Brothers and CBS. We shall see. If you'd like to help save Everwood visit EverwoodOnline for more information on petition sites, phone numbers and contact information. It's sad to see Everwood go, but one show I'm not sad to lose is 7th Heaven. I apologize to any fans out there but this was just a painful show to watch at times. The only character I really liked was the father. Did anyone notice that they all seemed to be fresh out of the same acting school? They all shared the same screwed up facial expression and acting habits. And the twins stopped being cute after a while. Another WB show we like to watch is One Tree Hill. It's pretty good, and loaded with pretty girls so, yeah, I watch it! At times it can be lame, especially when they do the rock star episodes and someone has to sing, but the show does touch on some great issues and we'd all love to see Dan bite it, but will it ever happen? Maybe next season. So, back to this 666 thing. How many people really subscribe to the notion that this is to be a day of the devil? Welcome to 2006 everbody, superstition is a thing of the past. At least it should be. Appropriately we have a remake of The Omen premiering in theaters across the country. The original was outstanding, I hope this version can do the story justice. Notice all the remakes lately? Either conscientious folks in the film industry have a desire to expose new generations of theater-goers to the classics, or the writers are running out of ideas. I don't mind so much, some of the newer films are great. I liked the remake of the House of Wax. The Hills Have Eyes is on my list of movies to rent, after the original of course. When I hear of a remake I tend to want to see the original before I watch the newer version. I just like to see how a movie has been changed. One remake I didn't really fall head over heals for was War of the Worlds. It was good, but not as great as it was hyped to be. Well, that's my observation for the day, or week, or month. I'll chime in when I have other interesting things to say. Sayonara!
