Jamie Foxx to portray Bob Marley in a Film about the King of Reggae
A feature film, the brainchild of Rita Marley depicting the early years of Bob Marley's life and career as the world's most well known Reggae artist, is expected to begin production in 2007, directed by filmmaker Rachid Bouchareb.
Foxx is a talented actor, and his performance as Ray Charles in the movie "Ray" was amazing, but can he pull off a convincing Bob Marley? He resembles Ray Charles, but there seems to be no real likeness to the godfather of reggae music. As appearances go I think Foxx would do a better job as Peter Tosh. Just take a look...
It will be interesting to see the final result. As huge Bob Marley fans, my wife and I will be tough critics. Others I have mentioned this to really can't see Foxx in the roll either. Hey, in Hollywood they can do anything. I'm sure the film will be made with care, and I have no doubt that it will be a top notch performance by Foxx. But I'm still not so sure Foxx is the right pick... We shall see.
